With the popularity of martial arts, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu has become an extensively used style of martial arts. There are many techniques in Jiu-Jitsu, so you should be able to distinguish between them.
1. Going on the ground
Basically Gracie jiu-jitsu is a ground-fighting style. Other forms of martial arts did not teach ground fighting technique, and since many fights end up on the ground, grappling skills can give you an edge in successful and effective self-defense.
2. The Guard
The Gracie Jiu-Jitsu technique where you control the opponent from the bottom is referred to as the guard. When the person in the bottom position has his legs around the opponent’s waist and feet are crossed at the ankles, it is known as closed guard. Controlling the opponent and applying submissions from the guard is a very skillful technique used by many fighters in gracie jiu-jitsu.
3. The Mount
Under lawful and suitable limits, the basic part of any fight, match or self-defense system involves protecting the important areas when attacked and then as far as possible resolving the fight. In a situation where you take the opponent to the ground, the best option for nullifying the attacker would be to attain mount position in Jiu-Jitsu. The perfect mount position is when you straddle your opponent from your knees and put great weight on his upper chest with your knees close to the armpits.
4. Rear-Naked Choke
In the mount position in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, the opponent attempts to turn onto his belly allowing you to take his back. This position is useful in that it keeps you from getting hit. Under this technique there are several effective techniques which allow you to apply submissions on an attacker from behind. While in standing or back-mount position in Jiu-Jitsu, chokeholds are common ways to end a fight.
